[2025 하계] 청년 2차 - '최수연' 참가자 수기(미국 거주)

 

I am a rather introverted person, and when I applied for this program, I was unsure about it because I don't speak Korean. Obviously, I felt completely lost on the first day of the program. Everything was unfamiliar, and people were talking in Korean, which I could barely understand. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to communicate with others or fully participate. However, my SPs and teammates were very kind and friendly by approaching me first, trying to find topics and made me feel welcomed, which helped ease my anxiety.

Over the next few days, as we visited different places and participated in cultural experiences, our SPs and my teammates kindly translated for me whenever I didn’t understand. Thanks to their support, I was able to enjoy the activities just as much as everyone else. As the days went by, I gradually became closer to my teammates. Through them, I was able to connect with people from different parts of the world who are all brought together by this special program. While experiencing Korean culture, I also had the chance to learn about the cultures of others, which made this time even more meaningful.

Due to my age, this will be my last time joining this program, but the memories of these days will stay with me for a long time. I’m truly grateful for all the people I met and the experiences we shared, and I want to express my sincere thanks to the best team ever, group 8.
