First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the staff of OKCC for organizing this program for young overseas Koreans, and for dedicating it specifically to employment and entrepreneurship in Korea.
The program left a very positive impression on me, starting from the registration stage. I would particularly like to note the support with my visa application. It was real and timely help, without which it would have been difficult for me to come. All the preparatory steps were well thought through and logical, from collecting windbreaker sizes to the career aptitude test, the results of which we later used during the training itself.
I would especially like to highlight the introduction of AI-powered simultaneous interpretation. As far as I know, in previous years the program was conducted entirely in Korean, and the addition of interpretation is a significant step forward that makes the program considerably more accessible to participants who do not speak the language. My separate thanks go to our coordinators, who were always nearby and ready to explain anything we did not understand.
The introductory lecture on legalization options, visas and citizenship in Korea was extremely valuable. This is practical information that is difficult to find on one's own. I also listened with great interest to the Youth Dream Talk speakers. Their personal stories about relocating to Korea and adapting to here were sincere and inspiring.
I live in Dubai, where I founded a community of Koryo-saram from the CIS countries. There are now around 90 of us. We meet regularly, talk and support one another. Each of us lives in an unfamiliar environment, and the connection between us helps a great deal: we speak the same language, eat Korean food and genuinely love South Korea.
That is why it meant so much to me to take part in this camp. I represented not only myself, but our entire community. I want to keep developing it: so that we become part of a larger Korean network, so that our members can take part in government programs, and so that the community grows into something more than a circle of friends. Among us there are both professionals in their fields and entrepreneurs running businesses in Dubai and other countries, so the potential for business connections is considerable.
I am grateful to the Korean government for supporting Koryo-saram and for seeking out talented people who can realize their potential in Korea. I would also like to note the state's attention to demographic issues. I hope that in the future there will be programs making repatriation and adaptation easier for Koreans from the CIS, including free Korean language courses.
Once again, thank you to OKCC and OKA for the opportunity to visit our historical homeland. The main thing I take away, beyond knowledge, is the realization that we should be ashamed of not knowing the Korean language. That is our problem, and solving it depends on no one but ourselves.
